ECU Remapping

Remapping (tuning) is optimising the way a vehicle burns fuel. When optimised this means a much greater amount of power and torque from the engine which can be used to improve towing, acceleration and fuel economy.

Remapping is a software change within a vehicle’s ECU (electronic control unit). The operating parameters are modified within the ‘map’ to make improvements without the need to alter or replace any hardware components.

Remapping a car or van has two major benefits:  increased torque and increased power. It is possible to increase fuel economy by remapping, but the biggest variable is the driver and their driving habits before and after remapping.

Typically, we would expect to see around a 5% increase for a turbo diesel engine and similar for a turbo petrol engine. In addition, many customers report that overall, the engine is “much more responsive in normal driving conditions” after a remap.
