K Jet Specialists in South Wales

Having trouble with your modern Classic?

With so many modern classics using Bosch’s K Jet fuel injection system, there are plenty of cars out there still using this reliable and simple fuel injection system.

You would expect it would be easy to find a tuner for your modern classic. After all, there are more dynos or rolling roads across South Wales than ever before.

So why is it so difficult to find a garage to diagnose your K Jet running problems?

Most of these rolling roads are run by companies that only remap cars using a computer.

K Jet specialists can diagnose running faults without fault codes or live data

What cars use K Jet Fuel Injection

If you drive a Porsche, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lotus, Ferrari, Peugeot, Nissan, Renault, Volvo, Saab, TVR or Ford built between 1973 and 1994 with fuel injection you could have a version of K Jet installed.

Why should you use a K Jet Specialist?

With no diagnostic plug and no code reader to point you towards the fault via codes, it’s all down to carrying out tests in the correct order and the ability to interpret the results. These skills have been largely lost over time and most of the test equipment junked. This means most ordinary garages are simply not interested in taking these jobs on.

It is important to carry out diagnostic tests in a specific order so that the problem is diagnosed quickly and efficiently without replacing unnecessary parts and wasting money.
It really helps if you have fuel pressure gauges plus the experience, knowledge and data to determine the cause of the problem.
If you don’t I urge you to get in touch with some who does.
While a simple system, the parts can be expensive and difficult to source.
Guessing and firing the parts cannon, isn’t recommended for this reason.

K Jet testing

The first test that you should always carry out when you have a problem with K-Jetronic or KE-Jetronic, is to determine if the intake is airtight.
Then the return volume test because if you have a low return volume every other test you do will be compromised.

Then and only then should you carry out the system pressure tests.

Depending on the results of these tests, you may need to check the operation of certain electrical circuits, or the ignition system.

Gotboost has been tuning cars since the late 80’s. This experience puts us at an advantage when it comes to tuning modern classics.

Setting the ignition timing using a Timing Light

We use modern equipment such as wideband lambda sensors to help Check the Air Fuel Ratio (AFR)  alongside traditional tools such as pressure gauges and timing lights.

Tuning Modern Classics

These are the cars we were brought up tuning. This is where the passion for tuning first started for us.

This is our comfort zone.

These modern classics are starting to increase in value. We appreciate they don’t look too different from today’s cars.

But when it comes to tuning, diagnosing and repairing modern classics the skill set required is very different. Little or no live data, few if any fault codes. This means these modern classics require a different approach.

Here at Gotboost we have blended the modern sophisticated methods we use on today’s performance vehicles with the tools and techniques required for K-jet Fuel Injection systems.

In short, we know our rotor arms from our track control arms.
